CrazinessThe longer I live, the more amazed I am at things that go on in this country. When children are going to bed hungry, when children are dying for lack of health care, and a single cornflake sells on Ebay for more than a $1,000 because it is alleged to be the shape of a state, I wonder that the rest of the world doesn’t throw a net over us and declare us incompetent. Maybe the cornflake story is an urban legend. I hope so. I haven’t checked. As crazy as our world is, I’m happy to be living where and when I am. I am quite content with my life of comfort. Having been prohibited from the swimming pool and hot tub for nearly three weeks, I’m finding it easy to get there every day. The tendency to talk myself out of that exercise has disappeared, at least temporarily.
Also, nearly every day I read about some new study that threatens us oldsters with dire health consequences if we don’t get adequate exercise to get rid of our belly fat. I’ve got much more than I need of that. The latest word is that belly fat may precede dementia. That’s enough to keep us awake at night.
