Morning EntertainmentOur free musical entertainment for May was provided, this morning, by Dr. Jazz and the Interns, with Nurse Ethel. This group of veteran musicians obviously loves performing and visibly enjoys each other’s company, as well as belting out old tunes. Some songs I remember, some may even be from before my time. I’d never before heard, “Roll the patrol a little closer to the curb, grandmother can’t step that high.” a rollicking tune about a grandma who had a few too many ("16 shots of rye") and got out of hand. Facetiously (I hope) the male trumpet player/singer dedicated the song to mothers. The motley mix of instruments: piano, soprano sax, trumpet, trombone, drums, tuba and banjo, gave some tunes a bluegrass feel. Anyway, it was a fun hour plus as they played a couple of encores, advising us to stand up quickly or they might start again. Nurse Ethel chucked Floyd under the chin while wailing the lyrics to Bill Bailey: “I know I’ve done you wrong.” I know why he likes to sit in the second row. Last month the country singer pulled him up for a dance. It’s all good fun and many laughs.
As I’ve said before, this is a great place to live with all kinds of entertainment opportunities. I’m about to go enjoy the pool and hot tub.
