Spring Forward, or Backward

Writing, as I do, from retirement with sufficient income to live comfortably and eat regularly, does not inspire a fear of being unpublished or widely read.

Motivation springs more from a fear of being forgotten after you’ve gone, having left nothing memorable behind. So, some of my peers and I discuss writing about our lives. What to tell and how to present it are major considerations. Most everyone has had some events in their lives the whole world doesn’t need to know. If we have children, we want to spare them embarrassment.

Thus, I, and others, stare at a blank screen or blank page from time to time, considering how to fill it. Often, we have an overload of information that lacks organization and don’t know where to start. On April Fools’ Day it’s tempting to start in the middle and work both ways.

Spring forward, or maybe backward!
