Kinder Gentler Thoughts

While I digest watermelon, strawberries, English cucumber and other summer-type goodies, I’m thinking kinder thoughts. The offending lounger with its broken part, protruding screws, etc. has been exchanged and the new one, so far, performs as promised. The weather, however, has not performed so that I can put it on the deck and lounge comfortably. The weather seems to change every day and my joints notice. My feet complain constantly—ahhhh, the golden years?

The many lovely shades of green and the colorful blossoming shrubs and trees visible from my window are products of our ever-changing weather and who can complain about that.

Chuckles and giggles here and there seem to help. The Sunday comics are a diversion, as are some of the blogs I read. A favorite blogger comments to the effect that, if aliens are indeed watching us, they must be convinced we are all bonkers. I love it. I’m convinced.

Our political behavior defies analysis. That doesn’t stop the Sunday television commentators from trying, however. Along with the national elections, our Civic Association is holding an election on Tuesday. I only know one candidate, our next-door neighbor, and have no idea what his platform is. His many signs just tell us to vote for him. I never like to vote without being educated on the candidates and/or issues, so I guess I’d better try to find out who, what and why before Tuesday.

Maybe I’ll run into someone in the pool later who knows more than I do. I always hesitate to ask questions, because some people come to the pool to visit and socialize and I go for exercise. Last night I made some poor gal chase me around so she could keep talking. She looked as if she needed the exercise as much as I do, so no harm done.
