Notes & Scribbles

Today I’m on a liquid fast for a medical test tomorrow, so I did very little. I did go to my swim/exercise class. The rest of the day I consumed liquids and Jello and read email and a short story book.

A nephew of mine, who will be 52 on May 7th, is running in the Boston Marathon today. He is a great example for his two boys.  I’m anxious to hear how he does, but his mother, my sister, is off on a trip to the beach, so I probably won’t hear until the end of the week.

Yesterday I spent some time revising poems and essays that I’ve written in the past. I’ve noticed there are a lot more of them that need work.  I also read two poetry chapbooks that I bought on Saturday. One is actually more of a magazine with poetry by many different authors. Called Windfall, it is published locally and features Northwest poets, with a few that are from out of this area.

Hamburgers are not often part of my diet, but I’m already thinking about a big juicy one to break my fast tomorrow afternoon.

My youngest sister, the family genealogist, turned up some shirt-tail relatives she mentioned in an email today. One of them lives less than 20 miles from me. It seems his great-grandfather and our great-grandfather were brothers. The world gets smaller every day.
