A Salute to Good Health

The drugs that are administered to make a colonoscopy tolerable and forgettable seem to be wearing off more slowly this time. I hope my morning swim and water exercises erase the little headache I have today. Having those particular drugs twice in five years has really impressed on me how easily one could become addicted to mind-altering substances.

So far, the results of the many tests I’ve taken (several blood tests) in the last few weeks have been very favorable. I have one more test this afternoon and then I should get a rest from all this attention to my body. It is an interesting coincidence that my 76th birthday occurred in the middle of all this medical activity.

Last Sunday, my 51-year-old nephew ran the Boston Marathon. He ran the entire course in what I’m told is very good time. Obviously he is in better condition than the average man his age.

Because our extended family has round-robin email correspondence on a fairly regular basis, we have all had a chance to read his stats (which, unfortunately, I don’t understand--but I’m still impressed). We also have access to numerous pictures of him taken at various spots along the course.

I’m off to get ready for my morning workout.
