SimplicityOne of the simple pleasures of life is walking barefoot on a clean kitchen floor. Yesterday afternoon I noticed that, after I mopped, I really enjoyed the smooth, not sticky, not gritty, surface. So I did the bathroom floors, also. After doing “house mouse” chores, as Al calls them, for many more years than I care to remember, it takes strong motivation to get started. Now if I can only remember how good that feels sometime in the next couple of months, I’ll do it again. We both prefer being barefoot in the house and that keeps our floors cleaner than they would be otherwise. We don’t expect visitors to share our preference, but if we don’t put shoes on when they’re here, they seem to feel compelled to remove theirs. We took our first trip to Powell’s at Beaverton today. It’s much larger than I expected and the books are more expensive than Al expected, but we did buy a few. Errands and laundry took up most of the rest of my day. I don’t seem to be getting much writing done. Tomorrow morning is my swim/exercise class and writing class is in the afternoon. Maybe I’ll be motivated to get back to my memoirs after that class.
