A Mish Mash Day

Another gorgeous day in Paradise. But, tomorrow the rains may come. It’s been a non-productive writing day. The sun outside was too tempting, so I did some last minute trimming of bushes and flowers and deadheaded roses.

The steam eruption on Mt. St. Helens was a distraction also.

I did manage to do a little reorganizing of files I’ve transferred to my new notebook computer. Getting more files added, deleting some and rearranging will probably take more than one large block of time.

My son came over and took me out for a Mexican lunch. We came back and called AAA and waited for the tow truck to take his van to a garage. A young woman loaded the car onto a flatbed tow truck. It was fascinating to watch her. She didn’t waste any time, but moved quickly and with great agility. She definitely had done that job before. Probably all day every day.

Years ago there was a hamburger restaurant in downtown Portland. I think the name was the Red Coach or Stage Coach or something like that. When I ate lunch there, as I did occasionally while working at various city locations, I usually sat at the counter, mostly so I could watch a particular cook, who wasted absolutely no motions while performing in ballet-like rhythm. In her black uniform, with long black hair pinned back, her slender build was very striking and her movements were mesmerizing. I thought of her when I watched the tow truck driver today.

Tomorrow night is the Writers Faire. I need to start organizing the books and supplies I’ll take with me. Serendipitously, some calendar business cards arrived today, in time to hand out with flyers advertising my books. Time marches on! I’d better follow.
