Poem a Month ClubGetting back into the swing of writing poetry has been very slow. I wrote one last month and one today. William Stafford wrote a poem every day. However, I’m quite sure he did very little cooking, cleaning or laundry. He probably didn’t do his own packing when he traveled, either. I did a little of all of the above today. The Oregon State Poetry Association conference last month gave me inspiration to attempt creating verses again. The theme, “poetry of place,” intrigued me. I’ve tried to combine that idea with the every day commonality of William Carlos Williams, and wrote a verse titled, “Standing on the Heat Vent Eating Watermelon.” My second attempt is called, “Grocery Shopping.” Because I may want to enter them in contests or try to publish them, I can’t put them up on my web site just yet.
For Mother’s Day I received a foot care kit that includes a reflexology chart and book, a tiny wooden ball massager, a jar of mint foot soak and one of mint foot lotion. My tired feet could go for some of that tonight. I think I’ll try it out.
