Whoohoo I’m Rich

According to my Quicken program, last year at this time my net worth was minus four hundred and a few dollars. This year it is a whopping six hundred dollars and change. Whoohoo, as the current expression goes! Microsoft Word put a red line under whoohoo. It hasn’t caught up with modern slang, apparently. Or, my version is now obsolete, which is the more likely scenario.

It’s nice to know Quicken thinks I have some money. My checking account hasn’t heard about it yet. Word doesn’t travel fast in my economic circle, I guess. Unless, of course, I should buy a ticket and win a lottery, in which case IRS would know instantly. I guess it really is true that good news travels fast. At least the IRS has a hotline to such information.

Mt. St. Helens is starting to impersonate Old Faithful. We’ll anxiously wait for tomorrow morning to see if she emits another burst of steam. However, I’ll be close to my TV, not sleeping in a car on a road up the mountain. I’ve seen it live before and need not go to that trouble to see it again.

It seems ridiculous, but when my little car, which sits in the carport for days at a time, is not here, I miss it. It probably gives me a glimpse of what life will be like when I or some well-meaning relative or friend, or even the state, clips my wings. Of course, that won’t be for many years, I hope.

Well, I’m off to wend my way to Authors Faire to sell a book or two, mayhap. Even if I don’t sell one, it’s always a blast to see all the other writers and network.
