Here and There

Today I drove to the Social Security office in Beaverton. It’s only about eight miles from here, but they are eight miles of some of the worst driving conditions in this area. It seems impossible to get on or off Highway 217 at any hour without a hassle. When I was in the wrong lane to make the necessary left turn on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, I shouted to my empty car, “I hate Beaverton.” To be more accurate, I hate driving to or in Beaverton.

After I got back home, I had a nice relaxing swim and mellowed out some. Our good weather is back, in time for the Rose Festival Parade on Saturday, if it lasts that long.

I added a new article to the writing samples on my website today. Now I have to decide which ones, if any, to remove to make room for more new work.

A phone call today from the Nielson Rating Survey was interesting. I was asked a few questions, then told they are sending me survey materials so that I can let them know what the members of my household watch on television. Since I watch very little TV and Al watches almost none, I’m afraid they’ll be disappointed. Nevertheless, I welcome an opportunity to complain about the quality of the shows that are offered, especially in the Summer.

I’m in the mood to do some serious de-cluttering in my office. I think I’ve figured out a way to get rid of one of my three desks and replace it with a bookcase. I’d better do some measuring first.
