Fall FoiblesSomehow or other, both national political parties have me on their lists of supporters. Thus, I frequently receive emails giving me updates on political action and, of course, begging for money. Correcting the situation by requesting to be removed from one list is an option, but I rather enjoy watching what little is different in their approaches and how much is the same. The letters have not yet worn off my delete key, so I read them when I have time, delete if I don’t. Next month at this time the deluge should be pretty much over. A more enjoyable pastime in the Fall is watching the trees outside my window slowly drop red-gold leaves. The green ones still cling to branches. Today I hope to actually get some writing done. When I need a break, I’ll try to move more files onto the new notebook computer. After I finish the laundry, that is. I smile as I hear Al, who recently started writing memoirs at age 75, complain that he outlines stories in his head while lying in bed, then sees them disappear as soon as he gets up. He has now been initiated into a very large club with one of the first rites of passage Mt. St. Helens is belching steam and ash again in today’s bright sunny weather. Predicted clouds threaten to hide her tomorrow. We still don’t know when or if we’ll see the “big one.” < < back |
