Travels

My new little travel mouse is installed and has been initiated today. Almost all of the files on my desktop have been copied onto the notebook computer. I need to do some re-arranging of those files and eliminate any duplicates. Each computer backs up the other this way. The flash drive I use to move the files is an additional backup, so my systems are pretty fail safe now.

We signed up for a European cruise today, also. The price is right; the time is right; and we will never be any younger. Six days of the two-week trip will be at sea. The notebook computer will go with us. That should make keeping a journal of the travels a bit easier.

When I was a young girl I read novels about people traveling across the Atlantic on ships. Lying on a deck chair wrapped in a blanket sounded really romantic to me. So this will be the culmination of a childhood ambition.

I’ve not been to any of the cities we will visit except New York, which we will just pass through on our way home. We will fly to London and board the ship there, then go to Zeebrugge, Belgium; Rotterdam, Holland; Paris, Dublin, Belfast and Glasgow. I’ve been to Ireland before, but not to either of those cities, except to land in Dublin to take on passengers for Shannon.

We will leave August 18th for London. I’m glad we will be going in the summer. We can pack more light clothes in less space and handle our own luggage. We managed with minimal luggage in Alaska, but if Al hadn’t brought two sets of long johns, I might have been cold on the deck at times.
