Weekend Activities

Yesterday afternoon we had a very short power failure that somehow goofed up our Broadband connection and we haven’t been able to get back on line at the high speed since then. We can use the phone line connection, however.

Last night we went to the folksinging group potluck. I started going to the folksings several years ago and we go occasionally these days. Our host had gone to great lengths to string lights all over their two-story deck, so we ate outdoors and sang out there for an hour or so. It was quite cold by 10:00 p.m. when we all agreed to go inside.

Because the host is a serious Woody Guthrie fan, we sang a number of his songs, as well as many others. When 25 or so people, in turn, each select songs twice around the circle, there’s a whole lot of singin’ goin’ on. We had four guitar players for part of the evening. The hostess didn’t play continuously because she was busy elsewhere and the host played banjo on some of the songs.

I did some editing of a possible introduction to my memoirs yesterday. I may still add more text before it’s ready to use.

This morning, Ada, who lives across the street, and I worked on her next door neighbor’s yard, watering and deadheading flowers. Marty has a gorgeous yard and is not able to take care of it now. She’s in an assisted care facility in severe pain with cancer that has metastasized from her lungs throughout her body.

Tomorrow morning I need to deadhead some of my own flowers.
