A Rare Treat

This morning I heard Carly Simon sing “I Only Have Eyes For You.” She sang it in the style of a 40’s torch singer, not leaping spasmodically around the stage. That was the best part. Apparently, it’s on her latest album, which I may have to buy. Granted, her hairstyle was more modern, but that didn’t spoil the effect.

Back in the 40’s when I was employed by an insurance group in Seattle, an “older” woman, probably in her 30’s, came to work there many mornings with her hair looking somewhat like Rod Stewart’s. A special agent in the office remarked to me, “Do you think she combs it with an egg beater?” That expression was new and quite humorous to me then. Today, they could probably name the current hairstyle “the eggbeater look.” Carly Simon’s version is somewhat tamer than Tina Turner’s, anyway.

I don’t usually watch morning television, but I switched it on shortly before 11:00 a.m. to catch Channel 2 News. Carly was a guest on “The View.” What a surprise treat
