Memoir Research

Not much writing done today, mostly research. I’m reading an ebook memoir written by a former writing teacher. This man is ten years younger than I, so he lived through almost all the same time periods, with the exception of my first ten years. The depression did not affect him at all and World War II had a very different effect. It’s a good example of the difference timing makes in a life.

I’ve read several other memoirs and a book on writing memoirs. So far, I’ve not found a memoir written in the style I want to use when I put my stories together, but I haven’t searched far and wide. Maybe it won’t work, but I want to try it anyway.

The hospital in Eugene where Al’s new great grandson was born creates a website for each newborn. There is a picture of the child, the birth statistics, and a list of notable events that have occurred on that same date in the past. His name is defined also. They did a really good job for this little guy who wears an Oregon Ducks tee shirt and a satisfied look.

Air pollution and/or pollen have bothered my eyes all day. It’s time to give them a rest. The eyes, that is, I can’t get rid of the irritants.
