A Hard Day’s Night

In spite of a short nap this afternoon, I’m dragging tonight. A visit to the doctor this morning, some shopping on the way home, and tackling two weeks’ accumulated mail took more energy than I had today. Tracking down bank statement discrepancies took a couple of hours also.

Tomorrow will be bill paying day, but the good part will be getting most of the pictures we took on our trip. Viewing those will be fun; hope we can remember where they were all taken.

Watching what’s going on in the wake of Hurricane Katrina on television is probably a partial cause of the weariness I feel tonight. The human, animal and property devastation defies belief. The brave volunteers reaching out to help are obviously overwhelmed. It is frightening to observe how poorly prepared we are for disaster.

Let us hope this will be a lesson well remembered that triggers responsive action.
