Back to Reality

We got most of the pictures from our cruise today and began immediately to mark them with date and place on the back of each one. How quickly we forget where we were! But by doing it this soon, at least we have a chance to get most of them right. It is fun to look and remember (or not).

Even after being back three and a half days, my body doesn’t know when to sleep or when to get hungry. So far, I snack and nap when the mood strikes, if possible. I hope to be back in a reasonable schedule before too long.

We were really enjoying our leisurely trip across the Atlantic when news of Hurricane Katrina came over the television via CNN news. I couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt at living in such luxury when so many people were suffering. Even if we hadn’t been in the middle of the Atlantic, there is very little we could or can do at our age other than donate money to a charity of choice.

Paying bills, making a dental appointment, registering for a writing class and setting up auto-pay for future recurring expenses took up most of the day. Reluctantly, I returned to the nitty-gritty of life.

When the nitty-gritty grinds me down, I’ll have our pictures in a Paris caf? or a Dublin Castle to take me away.
