A Busy Friday

Today began with a surprise phone call from an old friend passing through Tigard on her way from grandchildren-sitting in Portland to Corvallis, where she lives. We had a cuppa and a too-short visit. We got to meet her beautiful Brindle Boxer who keeps her company.

Lots of errands today, including a haircut, took up time. I washed the outside of the windows that I had done on the inside yesterday. It started raining as I finished them so, too bad, couldn’t do any more.

I haven’t done any writing yet, but the night is young. I may just opt to finish the last fifty pages of the novel I’ve been reading, instead.

Yesterday we bought a new television with a flat 20-inch screen and DVD/CD capability. It cost less than $200.00 and has a great picture and the close captioning that helps Al’s comprehension when speakers talk too fast and don’t enunciate.

I wish I could remember how much my first husband and I paid for our first TV, a 7-inch screen with a magnifying bubble--black and white, of course. That was in 1951, I think, in Seattle. There was only one channel, station KING, that was on the air for limited hours. I had never heard of personal computers then.
