RecoveringThis evening I’m feeling rested, thanks to an hour nap this afternoon, and I’m beginning to recover from PTSD (post-travel stress disorder). My little office is approaching a state of organized chaos, as opposed to the usual disorganized kind. This is allowing me to prepare for a writing class tomorrow afternoon, by making copies of one of my travelogue stories to share with the group. We are already talking about another trip, but not until sometime next year. Our destination will be determined by whatever place we want to see that is offered for the best price. It may be necessary to book travel a long time in advance when fuel prices are rising astronomically. It seems unlikely that they will go down any time soon. While we were away, my son came over and checked on our house. He looked for a key to my car in our freezer. When we returned he remarked, “You could feed a family of six with that freezer.” We have been trying to empty it so we can defrost and clean it. So we are eating frozen fish sticks, frozen garden corn, frozen chickens, frozen this and frozen that. Our own garden tomatoes help to relieve the monotony somewhat, but they will soon be gone. I guess I’m ready to reminisce about the warm California sun (hot in Death Valley) and the scenery in the areas we toured. In a few days, I may have some additions to the travel pages on my website. I wanted to bring some of that sun home with me, but it would be more charitable to ship it to Florida and the Caribbean, if it were only possible.
