Sunny Seattle Trip 10-26-05Greetings from Seattle. I may not get this posted until tomorrow when I hook my laptop up to a phone line, but I want to write a few lines anyway. Yesterday, at home, we had a power failure in the afternoon and I could not get my recovery equipment to start my desktop computer up again when the electricity came back on. My laptop was already packed, so I didn’t get a blog entry done last night. It was a pleasant drive to Seattle in light traffic, until South Tacoma where Fort Lewis drivers load the Seattle-bound lanes. When I got to South Seattle, I missed the exit to the airport from I-5. By the time I got turned around and doubled back, I was totally confused by all the new roads and streets. I could hear planes overhead and see the many hotels and motels that generally surround an airport, but couldn’t find any sign to tell me how to get there. By the time I got directions to I-405 and its airport exit, my sister was calling on my cell phone to tell me she had her luggage and was ready to be picked up. I was able to get there just a few minutes later, but more than a few minutes late. After I picked her up, we drove in the carpool lane through the city traffic and took the express lanes to Lake Forest Park, to our sister Bea’s house. Our fourth sister and her husband joined us for a delightful dinner and a short evening of conversation and playing with a puppy. We are all looking forward to our week’s visit together and filling in gaps about our family history with the help of our youngest sister, the genealogist.
More later?
