A Really Fun DayWe’re at the end of a really fun day. All four sisters visited together at Bea’s house this morning, then went to the local bookstore for browsing and buying. After that, we went to lunch at a restaurant in Bothell with wonderful food. We took Fran back to her home and drove around looking at the sensational fall colors in the neighborhood. We drove up the long, steep hill where we used to go as teenagers, park by the flagpole and look at the view or participate in other activities teenagers did in parked cars in those days. A Tom Wolfe book I looked at today explains in detail the difference between adolescents in those days and the present time. This afternoon and early evening, Bea and Margy consistently beat me at Scrabble, until the last game. As the perennial loser, I played first, and drew a Q and a Z as my first two letters. In spite of that, I won the game by a narrow margin and they tied for second place, just three points behind me. I decided to quit with that victory. They wanted to go to bed anyway. We had an excellent dinner of homemade soup and leftovers. My leftover quesadilla from lunch, and chicken pot pie and Jello left from last night’s dinner really filled us up. We topped that off with some apple crisp.
My reading choices this evening range from my new Gandhi autobiography to a stack of writing magazines that I’m behind on. And so to bed.
