Organization

My forgetfulness is getting to be a source of irritation. I pride myself on being organized enough that, if I have several errands in one direction, I do them all in one trip. This morning I did so. I went to the clinic, filled a prescription, and got my flu shot. On the way, I picked up junk mail at my post office box. On the return trip I stopped at a Fred Meyer store for a pair of socks and a few food items.

Home again, I sat down for a quick lunch, before heading for my writing class. Suddenly I realized I hadn’t seen the prescription in the packages I brought in from the car. I stepped to the carport and looked in the car. No little white bag with pills. Then I remembered I’d stopped in the restroom, set the bag on a shelf, and walked off without it.

Jiggers! Foiled again! With only about forty minutes before the start of my writing class, I headed back to the clinic. I retrieved the prescription from the kindly gal in Membership Services, and headed for my class.

Knowing there was a shortcut to get to the church where the class is held, I headed in that direction. One would think that in 75 years of being lost much of the time, I would learn to avoid shortcuts at all costs. Wrong.

Had I gone the long way, via my home, I would have been on time. As it was, I arrived at class twenty minutes late. So much for my organization.
