A Lazy Day

Today was pretty leisurely. We got up late. I did a few chores, then went to get a haircut and do some shopping. We played cards for about four hours in the late afternoon while watching the sunset and sipping soup.

I’m reading a long story written by a classmate from Portland Community College Writing classes in Tigard, who is also a member of the critique group I’m in. Most of his stories have a twist at the end, some sort of surprise. I’m down to about the last twenty pages and am resisting the temptation to skip to the end and spoil the effect. His fiction is quite good, especially for a relatively new writer.

I’m reluctantly deciding to let my subscription to The New Yorker lapse. They offer a great professional discount to writers. I’ve taken it for a year now and I can’t keep up. It seems difficult even to keep up with the daily newspaper.

Tomorrow I hope to get more writing done and maybe even work on my budget on Quicken.

And now for some shuteye.
