Stormy WeatherFall has blown into winter and where we live that rarely means snow, but most often brings dark, dreary wet weather. Many people are depressed by the lack of light. It may be that most of us are, but some of us don’t recognize it as well as others. I know that I usually feel full of energy when the sun shines, no matter what time of year we are in. On a lot of dark days, I don’t even feel like writing, just curling up with a book or parking in front of the TV. Whether it’s normal for most people to respond better to sunshine or whether I thrive in sun because I spent my first dozen years or so in California valleys, I can’t be sure. I’ve been in the Pacific Northwest a long time, and I do love it here, but I don’t always enjoy our weather.
Certainly I’m not alone in that respect. I read other blogs and some forums and listen to the writers complain. I suppose the current popular expressions: “Get used to it,” or “Live with it,” ought to apply, but somehow they don’t always work.
