Family Dinner

My kids all came here for dinner today. My daughter-in-law sang two performances at a nearby retirement home before she came over. My son arrived earlier so we could visit, and my daughter and son-in-law came after church. We had a good time at dinner together and Al played cards with three of them after dinner. Carrie and I rested and listened to the card players pick on each other.

When I mentioned that I’ll be 77 on my next birthday in the Spring, my son and his wife both seemed surprised. In some ways, I’m surprised also. Some days I’m astonished that I made it to this age. The grim reaper whispers in my ear that 80 is just around the corner. I shout back that I have a lot to do yet.

So I’d best get some rest, then get busy.
