Traffic and Weird WeatherYesterday afternoon I hurried back from my son’s house to try to beat the commuter traffic on I-205 in Portland. I thought I was home free, when traffic slowed suddenly in the Southbound lanes. It appeared that people were gawking at the Vice President’s motorcade traveling North toward the airport. Fortunately the delay for those of us traveling South was not long. Sometime later, after I had stopped for a late lunch, a downpour threatened to dent my car, and overwhelmed the windshield wipers. At a grocery store in my neighborhood, the man in line ahead of me was buying a big supply of plastic trash bags as emergency rain shields. He said his daughter was being married on Saturday in an outdoor wedding. Bad timing. Ordinary weeks go by fast enough these days, but a week with fun dinner guests and unexpected house uests flies by. Tuesday night my only cousin who lives within a hundred miles, and his wife came to dinner. She brought a pot roast cooked in cola, cheddar cheese soup and French onion soup mix. It was scrumptious. We rounded out the dinner with an assortment of garden fresh vegetables and pie ala mode for dessert. Al’s youngest son dropped in that afternoon with his girlfriend and they joined us for dinner. Afterwards we all played a crazy card game called Meander. Don’t ask. Cousin and wife went home to Scappoose that night, but son and girlfriend stayed in town a couple of days and went back home Friday morning. It was an enjoyable distraction from our usual routine.
Having a website and a blog are mind-boggling for this veteran of the carbon paper and manual typewriter days. Helping my webmaster son set up the blog was challenging, but fun. That happened during this fast-paced week, also. So, what did I write this week, you ask? Grocery lists and blog entries, otherwise zilch.
