My Life is an Open Blog

As low-key as it’s been, this holiday season was very pleasant. All the years of shopping, baking, decorating, cooking, etc. were fun when I was young and energetic, but now I enjoy the mellow days of visiting with family and friends and partaking of the culinary efforts of others. My son prepared a delightful turkey dinner today for eight family members. The food and the company were warm and delicious. My daughter’s low-cal pumpkin cheesecake was a hit for dessert.

For our gift from my son and daughter-in-law, in addition to the dinner, we received three decks of large lettered playing cards. The gift tag read: “For our spiteful elders.” I consider that a keeper.

A half dozen of the diners initiated the cards for us by playing several hands of Spite and Malice. The banter and laughter were contagious.

Several of the people there today read my blog regularly and remind me of what they learn here. My son coined the phrase, “Your life is an open blog.” I like it. Maybe it’s a book title or a blog title or something.
