Getting Down to Writing Business

The writing critique group I belong to met this afternoon and all six of us were present. It was good to see everyone and get up to date on the different stories in progress. Listening to the variety of work is akin to hearing a half a dozen different soap operas, placed in various locations and eras. Of course, all have totally different casts of characters, as well.

The writing class meets every Wednesday afternoon and the critique group meets twice a month, if I have it straight. Tomorrow will be the first writing class of the winter session. I’ll miss a couple of classes in late January and early February while we’re on our cruise to Mexico.

Meanwhile, here at home, Al and I are on a learning binge to try to get more pictures into our work. We have a lot of pictures that need to be scanned and edited for publication. Also, of course, we need to learn how to operate and utilize the new digital camera. I fell asleep last night reading the operating manual.

For diversion, I turn on the WebCam in Kruger Park. So far, the most interesting animals we’ve seen there were the hippos last weekend. The last few days, most of the activity consists of one or more birds of various sizes standing around. A large part of our day is night over there and it’s dark around the watering hole. I imagine most animals are sleeping then. But I keep trying to catch some elephants or wildebeests or other large animals taking on water or bathing
