Ambition, or Lack Thereof

Some days it seems as if I get nothing done. Other days a few chores get crossed off my list. But it’s been a long time since I felt like I had a really productive day. Laundry and dishes usually get done. Vacuuming and dusting may be done when the need gets desperate. Some writing usually gets at least worked on most days. I do make my bed so that people may look at its ruffly pinkness and be distracted away from the messy office at the other end of the room.

Now that I’m on the last day of my antibiotics, I hope to get to the Y for a swim or two later this week. If I can just not slash a finger or bash a leg, I may actually get there.

Today I cooked a chicken and the corned beef brisket I found in the bottom of the freezer (we are finally getting to the bottom). We’ll have meat for at least a week now. I don’t know what we’ll do with all the little containers of frozen jam and other miscellany. Maybe we can persuade some of the kids to take a few with them when they go home from here. I guess we could try passing them out to the neighbors as well.

My three sisters and I, and a niece, are trying to find a time this year when we can all get together for a one-week trip. With 365 days, or actually a few less than that left now, you wouldn’t think it would be so difficult. But it is. We’ve been doing it for the last few years and we always eventually agree on a date. We do have good times and, now that all the sisters are getting up in years, it seems important to get together.
