Laughter and Sunshine

Tonight I’m thinking about Pearlie Mae (Pearl Bailey) when she would sing about being so tired and how much her feet hurt. Bless her bones, I hope she’s resting now.

The last few days when I’ve been under the weather, I’ve chosen humorous books to read. Chuckling and laughing seem to restore a bit of energy. After finishing Robert Fulghum’s Uh-Oh, I’m reading Must Love Dogs, about a young woman using personal ads to find a companion. I think I’m particularly able to enjoy this story, after my research through newspaper and online personals for my book.

Today was lovely and sunny. Al started working on trimming our side of a hedge between this place and the one next door.  The hedge is trying to swallow a tree that’s grown from about six inches when I moved in, to over six feet tall. Since its parent tree was taken out last year, and a large rhododendron near it died over the winter, I want to save that newer tree. The rhododendron will have to be taken down also, but there’s a limit to how much yard waste we can get rid of at one time. In this climate, fighting jungle growth is perennial.

It’s time to watch Boston Legal, one of the few TV programs I thoroughly enjoy. It’s obviously written by some twisted minds. It looks as if the actors have a ball doing the show. I like it, anyway.
