On the Move Again

My son reminded me tonight that every time I move from one place to another, when I get halfway through and am wiped out, I vow never to do it again. Generally, I say something like, “When I leave here, it’ll be feet-first on a stretcher.” But, never say never--I think I’m gonna do it again.

At 77, the prospect of living in an apartment with the lovely shrubs and flowers maintained by a contract landscaping company and everything newly painted and scrubbed is irresistible. So, once again, I’m going to list this manufactured home for sale and hope we’ll be able to move to King City Apartments by the end of summer.

This will be one of the shortest moves I’ve made. One in Vancouver may have been about the same distance, just two or three miles or so. But, even just moving next door, which I’ve never tried, is a chore.

I’ll miss my flowers and our tiny vegetable garden, but I won’t miss the watering and weeding and planting. A few pots on a deck will suit me just fine. If we can just live through these next few months, life should be serene.
