Timing is Everything

There is a strange fact apparent to me recently--and I have noticed it before from time to time--that the busier I am, the more I get done. With all the packing for our trip, packing for a move, etc., I seem to get writing done and some reading.

When I’m not so busy, I can always find things to do because I have so much time. I can always read/write later. But much of that time gets procrastinated away and the “later” when I can do those things doesn’t arrive.

So I guess the secret is to stay busy. I even find time for short naps on most days.

I looked at an apartment near here this morning. It was clean and bright inside, but the outside entry was dismal. The walkway and steps were in serious need of sweeping and washing. The dark hallway to the apartment entry reminded me of one of the dirty tunnels under overpasses that have been littered by transients. The only thing missing was the urine odor.

Even though they are somewhat more expensive, the apartments at King City are the most appealing I’ve seen so far. The large indoor pool is a major attraction, as is the landscaping in the entire complex. The residents are all over 55 and seem to be quite friendly. I think I’ve been spoiled by living in a senior complex for four and a half years now. The downside is that there are more fire engines and ambulances that come in and out. But the many good points overbalance that.

Now if I can just exercise the power of positive thinking enough so that we will sell this place and find a vacant apartment to suit us at approximately the same time, it will smooth our lives a great deal.
