Mind Meanderings

I’m not crazy about being old, but I sure do like being retired. Maybe in my next life I can arrange it so I’ll be retired when I’m young and can enjoy it more and work when I’m old. The AARP Bulletin that arrived today has a picture and article about an 83-year-old gal who’s still working at General Motors. Also, of course, my 88-year-old neighbor who lost her job last year, is still looking like a lost soul. She’s not happy that State Employment hasn’t found her another position.

After packing books today, I realize I didn’t give enough of them away. I have pared down my audio and video tapes to a manageable few, and I never did have many CD’s, at least not music CD’s. I’m accumulating quite a few with data on them.

There is one more day to write up on my travel logs--the trip home, which was the longest and least enjoyable day or two of the entire saga. I guess that’s why I’m having so much trouble getting it done.

When I took the one roll of regular film from the cruise to the drug store today, a repairman was sorting wires in the back of the computer developing system. They didn’t even have an estimate of when it might be operable again. I probably should have taken my film elsewhere. I hope they don’t use it to test the equipment during the repairs. Our digital camera didn’t capture the lighted boats that ran up and down the river one evening in China, so I hope the 35mm. did.

One of our tomato plants has tiny tomatoes on it and all of them have a lot of blossoms. Maybe the people who bought our place will let us come back and get a few tomatoes when and if they mature and get ripe.

Tomorrow I’ll call our realtor and see if there’s any progress on our deal. Then I’ll get back to filling the many boxes we found today.
