A Moving Story

When we started getting ready to move, right after we accepted our buyers’ offer, I thought it was a good idea to get a head start packing since we don’t move as fast as we once did. However, at this point, I’m beginning to think we’re going to be so tired of the whole process before we can get into the new place that we’ll wish we’d never even decided to sell.

We went to the apartment we plan to move into this afternoon to take some measurements. There were a couple of little disappointments, but several nice surprises. I had thought there was a breakfast bar between the kitchen and dining room. It is more of a room divider, but the good news is we won’t need to buy stools. The storage is in the attic and not a basement storeroom, as I had thought, but it will still be adequate. The washer and dryer are stacked, so we won’t be able to use our own. However, we may be able to buy the ones that are there, rather than rent them and pay for them several times over. There is quite a lot of built-in storage. The trees and flowers are lovely and maintenance free (on our part, at least).

Our measurements indicate that we will be able to have a full wall of bookcases in the living room, as well as our furniture. We still have to work out where the computers will go, but most everything else is falling into place.

I’ll probably be able to stay up past 9:30 tonight. That’s when I collapsed last night. I paced myself better today.

Our buyers will be here tomorrow afternoon to take measurements and we will get a better idea then about how soon all the changes will be definite. If all the moves are expedited as our realtor suggested might happen, then our early start will pay off.
