Just Another Day of PackingI watched some of the Rose Festival Parade while resting in between rounds of filling boxes. It is amazing how many parts of the world are represented. A dancing/marching group from Osaka was of particular interest, since we boarded the cruise ship in Osaka on our recent trip. The group seemed to be all females and were reported to range in age from three to seventy-five. I didn’t see the youngest or oldest but the costumes and the routines were impressive. On one of my frequent breaks from standing, sorting and stuffing boxes, I took a run to Bi-Mart for more duct tape and some newspaper for wrapping dishes, etc. We’re also using towels and dishtowels, etc. for packing materials. I thought we gave a lot of stuff away. Obviously, it wasn’t nearly enough, however. I dread the unpacking and all the decisions about what to put where. The living room and dining room are mostly packed and are filling up with boxes. I got a good bit of the kitchen packed today. It’s amazing what we discover in odd corners that neither of us remembers ever seeing before. Today it was a brand new (never out of the box) hand mixer. The neighborhood sale got that and a lot of other stuff on this last day that they’re accepting donations. I’m really grateful for the good weather and moderate temperatures. All this activity really makes it easy to get to sleep at night. The hard part is to get to bed first. The book I’m trying to get into gets dropped after only a couple of pages every night Next week I’ll have to start packing this office and what a job that will be! Most of the books are packed, but the file cabinets and unfiled papers, etc. need a lot of attention. < < back |
