Motoring Around

We spent enough time in a car today to have driven to Seattle or maybe even Everett. We went from Tigard to Beaverton where we spent about fifteen minutes at our realtor’s house. His wife presented all the papers, we signed, and she said “That’s all there is to it.”

Rather abruptly I responded, “Except a check.”

She ran out to her car and got our check. Then we drove to Vancouver. Of course, there was a wreck on I-5 that stalled traffic to a crawl. We spent about five or ten minutes at my credit union, and headed back to Tigard. We decided to try I-205. It wasn’t bad until about West Linn. By the time we got to Tigard, we’d been trekking around for four hours.

We stopped at Elmer’s for some soup and the biggest milkshake I’ve seen in this century. It took both of us to drink it. Made with three different kinds of berries, it was tasty and huge.

We are comforted by the fact that the worst of the paperwork is over. The work on our apartment reportedly started today, so we should be able to begin hauling boxes in a few days. I think I’ll take pictures of our stacks of boxes and post them when we can get them on a computer. (The pictures, that is, not the boxes.)

We have the beginning of another great sunset tonight. It was hotter today than was predicted. I hope that doesn’t keep up through the move.
