Pee Trail --Note: This is not a new hiking trail

We have closed captioning on our television all the time so that Al can read what he can’t hear, and I can catch words that are mumbled, garbled, etc. This morning I read a really humorous rendition of the word “betrayal.” Fortunately, I’d heard the speaker say the actual word, or I would not have had a clue what was meant. The closed captioned version was: “Pee Trail.” This was a program on a national network. I suppose some of the closed captioning is done by computer or, if not, by illiterates.

I like to think I could do a better job, but that would depend on whether I had an advance script or had to keep up with a fast-talking mumbler. To us old folks, most young people fit into that category.

Sometimes it seems that all modern technology is loaded with glitches. Certainly computers are. I can hear Art Buchwald or Garrison Keillor reading instructions: “To download glitches, at absolutely no charge, click here.”

Today I added two more pages to the travel logs at my website. I’ll try to add pictures later, but I’m having trouble with that software right now. To access the new pages, go to http://www.musebooks.com—click on Travel Archives, then select from the last two items: A Day at Sea ? En Route to Shanghai or Shanghai’d in Shanghai.
