Another ScorcherI hoped the clouds that came last night would give us relief, but they ran away today. Although it’s not as hot as yesterday, it seems just as uncomfortable. I sure lose my ambition in the heat. I did take a trip to Washington Square Mall, probably my first in about a year. The lack of crowds was surprising, considering the sale prices that were advertised. I picked up some sofa pillows to brighten up the living room. Even the food court was not overly crowded and it was lunchtime on Saturday. The homemade chicken soup and fresh fruit salad I had were delicious but the ambiance was highly undesirable. The noise level bouncing off the walls and ceiling precluded any conversation. Fortunately, I was alone, but even thinking was difficult. I skipped my swim today and regret it. I’ll have to cool off in the shower before I try to sleep. Our former neighbor called tonight to complain that she’s had a hard time reaching us. We are still on dial-up and so voice mail answers the phone when we’re on line. She is 88 (at least), she seems to be a little foggy on her exact age, and lonely. The people who bought our place work during the day. She has next-door neighbors, but they are new. Her children would like her to move nearer to one or the other of them, but she doesn’t want to leave the home she shared with her husband.
Our computer guru will be here for a few hours tomorrow to work with us. I hope to get set up to be wireless when our DSL is reactivated.
