Busy TimeYesterday we drove to Eugene to visit with Al’s son and friend, a granddaughter and her husband, and their year-old son, Al’s great-grandson. We all had dinner together at a Chinese restaurant where we were able to chat a bit. After dinner, they all came back to our air-conditioned motel for more visiting. The party broke up early since they had work and school today. We slept a few hours and, when we woke up about 3:00 a.m. decided to head home. We got here before 5:00. I’ll write more about the fun we had with Kyran, the great-grandson after we get the pictures developed. I was able to get a couple of hours’ nap before our computer tutor arrived. When he left, we had both computers set up for wireless operation and Al had a couple of backup CD’s for the work he’s done. After a short rest and a fast, light lunch, I headed for my critique group to have them help modify the rest of my travel journals. When I got home about 3:00, Al had returned from having inverted eyelashes removed and had half a black eye. The maintenance man for the apartments was installing blinds in the living and dining rooms. The vertical slat set covers the sliding glass doors to the balcony and two horizontal Venetian blinds cover the dining room window. They are a big improvement over the aged and stained draperies that were there when we moved in. He finished at just before 4:30 and our dinner guests arrived. Al’s niece and her husband, as well as Al’s chess opponent, went out with us for a Mexican dinner. We had a nice visit and, back at our place, the men played chess, rotating partners. Al’s niece and I visited on the balcony which was cooler than the other rooms. They all left around 9:00 and Al and I played a few hands of cards, but neither one of us was very alert, so we gave up after about three rounds.
And here I am, head nodding, trying to get a blog entry posted.
