Sick DayIt has occurred to me that it’s grossly unfair not to be able to take a sick day when you’re retired. So, today I’m taking a sick day. I’m actually on the mend; the sick part was an hour or two during the night that interrupted my sleep. So, I made up the lost sleep this morning and got a very late start. Unfortunately, I had to cancel a medical appointment for this morning because I was still feeling too rotten to drive to Sunnyside Kaiser Clinic to see a foot doctor. I suppose it will take another two or three months to get in there now. The chores that still await me, such as hanging pictures, putting away cleaning supplies, etc. can wait until I feel more energetic. I probably shouldn’t swim either, since I could possibly be infectious--darn. After a couple of days without a swim, I go into withdrawal. Had I known before I moved how much trouble it would be to get service from some of my service providers, I might have stayed where I was. However, I do like it here much better and will be delighted if I ever get hooked up to Broadband again in this lifetime.
When I learned to write checks many moons ago, I was told the reason the amount of the check is written out on a separate line from the figure amount was to insure that the payment would be deducted correctly. Even that doesn’t work anymore. I don’t write very many checks, but my latest rent check was processed for $20.00 more than the amount due. My copy of the check shows the amounts very plainly. Fortunately, I’m not paranoid enough (yet) to think they are all trying to drive me crazy. I prefer to believe that the conspiracy is to keep my ancient brain active. Bless their hearts, it’s working.
