Modern InconveniencesAfter several days of searching for an insurance policy I knew I had received and the bill for the premium, I decided to take one more look in my little safe. It was there, in disguise, with pages of privacy policy information stapled to the top. That’s why I didn’t recognize it. Years ago, when I typed insurance policies, they didn’t look at all like that. To further confuse me, the insurance company had combined the bill for the balance of my auto insurance and the tenant’s homeowner’s policy, so I didn’t recognize it either. I may have known that at one time, because the amounts were entered in my Quicken program, but with moving and all its attendant struggles, I had forgotten. A quick call to the agent confirmed the amount I needed to pay, so I got the check in the mail and got that off my mind. Tomorrow I have some medical tests for which I’ll be anesthetized (I hope) and I may not be clear-headed when I get back home. Today Handsome, my son’s big dog who’s been ill, is eating and chasing cats again, but still resting a lot. I probably should have a snack before Midnight, since I’m not supposed to eat anything after that until tomorrow night, but I don’t have much appetite. I can have liquids until 8:00 a.m., but I don’t think I’ll stay up to drink the rest of the night.
Getting into the mood to write poetry or memoirs hasn’t been happening lately. I hope it will return soon.
