Sew What

After dragging my sewing machine around and not using it for the last ten or twenty years, I gave it away. It didn’t occur to me that all my needles and thread were in the drawers, but the thread may possibly be rotten anyway, some of it is so old. It was well organized in little clear plastic boxes, by colors.

Yesterday, I pulled a new jogging suit out of the closet and discovered it’s a bit long in the sleeves and the legs. So I went to Dollar Tree today and found a package of thread in many colors, with a small amount on each spool. Perfect. On the way home, I remembered I hadn’t bought needles. However, I do have some travel sewing kits, so I may be able to scrounge a needle or two from those. I guess I can use scotch tape or small safety pins in lieu of sewing pins.

Or, even more tempting, I can call my friend at Eldorado Villas who does alterations and have her do the job. She is good at it and reasonable

I drove through Eldorado Villas today, past my former residence, and noticed how totally different it looks. All the plantings have been removed. That’s logical, because the new owner is a landscaper. I’m anxious to see how it will look when he’s done. Shutters and awnings have been removed and the new paint color is blue. I’ll have to get a picture when they finish and share it.

My blog may appear spasmodically over the next week. We plan to be gone all day Sunday and leave on Tuesday for several days at the coast. So, don’t worry if you don’t see one every day.
