A Ride Through the GorgeTrying to get over a cold and deal with a trying computer problem has put me into a bad mood. I’ll try to forget about it and remember the ride we took today. We drove up the Columbia Gorge on Washington Highway 14 to Carson, then came back through Cascade Locks and down the Oregon side. The trees on the Washington side still had most of their colorful leaves; apparently they don’t get as much wind. Across the river, many trees are nearly bare.
The weather wasn’t perfect, but the foggy mist and clouds frame the hills above the river and add to the mystique of the area. The gorge never looks the same way twice. It’s always an adventure to travel through it.
