Relationships

Tonight in the swimming pool, I met a woman whose parents bought one of the first houses here in King City and are still living in it. They are both 97 years old and celebrate their 76th wedding anniversary this year. She looks after them, but says they don’t need much help. This must be a healthy place to live.

Ideas pop through my head from time to time about possibly writing another book, but they don’t plant themselves very long. Memoir stories are the focus of my efforts when I take time to write these days. There are a number of books that probably need to be written about late life relationships and how to make them last for the rest of a lifetime. I definitely don’t know those answers, so would have to research, take surveys, and interview those who are successful, as well as others who aren’t.

Being the eldest of four sisters, two of whom have had long marriages, I often wonder about the differences in the choices we made and in our individual personalities and how they have affected our relationships.

I’m not sure I have the energy or enthusiasm for another book project and I am sure I don’t want to spend the rest of my life trying to learn how to sell books, so this may be just a passing fancy. We’ll see.
