Nostalgia

Today I had a delightful breakfast at lunchtime with an old friend. Old in the sense of many years acquaintance and, as even she would admit, we are both old in years lived. We have mutual friends and some of the same aches and pains. We had a hard time slowing our conversation long enough to order food.

Later, I talked on the phone with another friend of many years. He and his lady are planning a trip to South Africa next year. They’ve been invited to visit with a resident of Cape Town they met traveling in this country. I’m excited for them. My trip to South Africa is still a most fond memory after nearly eight years.

So nostalgia was the mood of the day. I hoped to ruminate on those conversations in the swimming pool and hot tub, but a couple of gals who were yakking to each other distracted me. Nevertheless, I got my exercises and swim in. After dinner, I was very sleepy, but have managed to stay upright long enough to get this written.

Tonight I may actually finish reading the long novel I’ve been plugging away at for three months or so. There are fewer than 50 pages left to go.
