Fall has Fallen

An old friend and his lady visited with us for a couple of hours today. I shared my pictures of South Africa, since they are planning a trip to Cape Town next year. We got up-to-date on what’s going on in all of our lives over tea and cookies and had an enjoyable time.

I found some California strawberries at Albertson’s today--from Watsonville. They were so sweet that I added no sugar or sweetener, but piled them on vanilla ice cream for dessert after our light supper. The rain has driven away the sun here, but that sweet fruit oozed sunshine.

We are doing our usual family dance to decide where and when to celebrate Thanksgiving. We almost never have our family dinner on the actual day. That will be the case this year also, since Floyd and I will be at his daughter’s with his family on Thanksgiving Day.

When I moved to this apartment, I wondered how long it would take to get free address labels and I ordered some (not free) last week. A couple of days later, I received a few plain ones and today the mail brought some fancy ones with bright colored pictures. I suppose there will be many more coming between now and Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, I think decorations went up in a few of the stores right around Labor Day this year. Next year the Fourth of July, perhaps?
