Seattle Reunion

Written Friday night, posted Saturday--

As expected, we are having a wonderful time in Seattle. After driving as far as the Rib Eye Restaurant in the Chehalis-Centralia area, I discovered I didn’t have my driver’s license with me. When I attempted to pay for our lunch with a credit card, the cashier asked me for picture identification. I said, “Sure,” and started pawing through my purse. After looking in the usual places, I remembered I’d put it in my swim bag the night before and forgot to put it back in my purse. Usually I don’t take my purse when I drive to the pool, but just my keys and my license.

When the cashier learned I didn’t have my license, she must have figured I was too dumb to try and pull a fast one on her, so she took my credit card without the I.D. My youngest sister, Margaret, who was riding with me, drove the rest of the way and will drive the rest of the trip.

We arrived in mid-afternoon yesterday and visited with our hostess sister, Bea. She served a lovely fish dinner to all four sisters, one husband and one daughter/niece.

We all laughed and talked for a couple of hours after dinner, then collapsed.

This morning, all four sisters went to the exercise class together that is usually attended by the two middle sisters who live in Seattle. I did the arm exercises and some neck ones, but sat out anything that involved feet. The other three did all the exercises. While I watched, I noted some exercises I’m not doing now that I can adapt to the swimming pool.

After that, we made our usual visit to Third Place Books, to leave some of our cash in exchange for books, then shopped at the nearby Albertson’s. We decided against going out to lunch because a cousin and his wife and mother (our aunt) would be arriving sometime in the afternoon and we weren’t sure how early. So, we went back to Bea’s and played a couple of hands of Spite and Malice, then had lunch and supervised while Bea put a turkey on to cook.

After a while, our cousin called and said they were at the motel and would be out soon. Some time later, they arrived and we visited while dinner finished cooking and we waited for our hard-working niece to tear herself away from her home office. Then the same group as the night before, plus our cousin, his wife and his mother, all had a great turkey dinner. Many laughs later most of the group departed and Margaret, Bea and I headed for bed.

Since it was fairly early and I was still on a sugar high from some jellybeans, I decided to set up this laptop computer and write a blog. It may not get sent until morning.

We will mail the cap cousin Al left behind in a day or so.

P.S. Margaret mailed the cap today, Saturday.
