Rainy Season Blues

This is my first day at home in the rainy season and I’m tired of it already. We need it, however, and I won’t have to drive far any time soon, so I shouldn’t complain. My new tires gripped the pavement well today on the trip to the airport to drop my sister off. Visibility was good also with the new wiper blades and the “rain guard” applied by Oil Can Henry’s.

As soon as we entered I-205, traffic slowed to 4-5 miles per hour due to construction congestion. Both my sister and I noticed last night that the gas tank needed filling before we took off for the airport, but neither of us remembered that. So, after noticing the needle dropping toward Empty, I took an exit where I knew there were gas stations in West Linn and filled up. Fortunately, we had left early enough to allow her plenty of time to kill in the airport, even if the plane left as scheduled. If all went well, she should be arriving at home in Oceanside, California about now.

I stopped on the way back and had a quick cup of coffee with my son at his place of business, which is his home. We had a short, pleasant visit, and I brightened up his dog’s day a bit, I think. The dog gets bored when his master sits at the computer or on the phone all day.

Back at home, I had a light lunch and a nap. Later, I made soup for supper out of last night’s dinner leftovers. It was pretty palatable and light enough to make up for heavier meals I’d eaten in the last week or so.

My laundry is pretty well caught up, but my “to do” stack is headed for the ceiling and threatening to tip over, so my work is cut out for me tomorrow. Time to get more rest.
