Scorecard for the DayToday I accomplished something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It’s not a task I can just will myself to do at any given moment. I wrote down what some poets call a “found poem.” It came to me as I looked out the kitchen window at a nearby tree. It’s very short. In my experience, short poems are harder to write than longer ones. Every word has to stand on its own merit. No wasted words are allowed. Since I may enter it in a contest, I won’t share it at this time. My sense of accomplishment has been further embellished by a good session of exercises and swimming in the pool and a dip in the spa. I also cooked the first meal in my new pressure cooker. Obviously, I will need more practice since I haven’t used such a device for many years. The dinner was edible (barely) and nutritious. That’s the best I can say for it. Floyd is very tactful, or was very hungry--I’m not sure which. Anyway, he had a second serving.
Before bedtime, I’ll continue revisions on memoir stories and a poem I wrote a year and a half ago. I need to get the memoir stories completed. Floyd is trying to persuade me to write another book that he would help with. He needs a project to inspire him to quit going to work. I know how much work a book is, so the idea is daunting, to say the least.
